No More Bad News |
Posted: November 13, 2012 |
I don’t like to watch the news on TV. Never did. Too depressing. Then I read something today that got me thinking. There is no bad news. What? My first thoughts jumped to the recent elections. Seems like there was no shortage of bad news being spread, there…. Isn’t that why we are all so glad when these campaigns are over? We’re tired of hearing the constant negative slamming. Who knows what’s even true? Now, I am a believer in telling your story, gory details and all. Sounds contradictory at first, yes? How is that different from immersing yourself in the negativity from the news? I mean negative is negative, right? Sort of. Here’s the secret: YOUR STORY NEEDS TO BE HEARD AND YOUR VOICE VALIDATED otherwise you will either keep telling it or keep remembering it. Over and over and over. Like campagn commercials. Once the news is reported, they move on to something different. Once your story is reported, you can move on, as well. In order to move forward we have to accept what IS first. We do that when we tell the story and get it out there. What’s really exciting is the next step. Reframing the story. In the reframing comes the ability to accept. Back to there is no bad news. Do you know what today or tomorrow holds? Since you don’t, how can you assign good or bad to anything that happens? My son getting sick is a tragedy, until the draft board shows up and can’t take him, due to the illness. We truly don’t know. You always have free will to make changes, even though perhaps not overnight. But I’m going to suggest something else: trust that everything is working out for your highest good. It’s one person’s perspective [mine] and it doesn’t have to be yours, but I’m asking you to give it a try, nonetheless. I don’t know what my tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds my tomorrow. Your partner in change.
