Ever Feel Invisible?
I've always believed everyone wears a t-shirt with 3 questions on the front for all the world to see: -do you hear me? -do you see me? -do I matter to you?
We all ask this...usually silently... but here's what I find disempowering about it. We're seeking validation OUTSIDE of ourselves. And external validation is ALWAYS conditional. Shaky ground.
And it gets shakier....
If I want you to see me, and you want me to see you.... who gets what they want? Someone's gonna lose....or maybe both parties end up losing....
Action Plan: 1. There will be times no one will "be there" for you. Let go of hoping someone will be[OR SHOULD BE] anything other than how they are and let go of any judgment about their behavior. Note- this is low self esteem; we judge others to feel "right". 2. Give the t-shirt back. YOU are the Something you've been looking for. 3. There will also be many teachers - I named them keyholders- waiting for your call to open the door, so you can walk inside. Make that call and live that life you deserve.
