Currently an adjunct faculty member at Argosy University, Dr. Wilfred Van Gorp served as clinical psychology professor and neuropsychology director with the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Department of Psychiatry, for a decade. During this time, Wilfred Van Gorp, PhD, was also an attending psychologist at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. Board-certified in neuropsychology, he has held executive committee membership in the American Psychological Association and served as elected treasurer of the organization’s neuropsychology division.
Dr. Van Gorp completed his bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and subsequently pursued master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology at the same institution. He undertook a fellowship at the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine. From 1987 to 1996, he served as chief of the neuropsychology assessment laboratory at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. For more than 25 years, Wilfred Van Gorp, PhD, has served on the scientific advisory committee of the American Foundation for AIDS Research and he is currently a member of the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society’s editorial board.
