Although long distance relationships may have a reputation for being short-lived there have been long lasting, substantial relationships formed from these humble beginnings. Every situation is unique, of course, but these are the basic differences between dating and being in a relationship for most people. This is an apparent paradox, but the quality of the people you meet has considerably to do with the quantity of people you meet. In the case of LOVE ME TONIGHT, the loss is truly sad because of the quality of the film that survives. When you compare this film to other musicals from the dawn of the sound era like Broadway MELODY the difference is glaring. Much like religion, the mere mention of politics can lead to much strife in relationships. So why not let them know just how much you love them? Boring melodrama about a gossip writer (Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.) who falls in love with a struggling actress (Frances Dee) but she might be two timing him with a gangster (Lyle Talbot). He falls in love with her again. This was re-titled Eleven Men and a Girl when it was sold to television in 1956, in order to avoid confusion with another WB film of the same name, Maybe It's Love (1935), and retains this title today when shown on Turner Classic Movies.
