Steve Martinez, owner of STM Outfitters, is a full time fishing guide offering trips for steelhead, salmon, carp and redfish. Steve grew up on the banks of the Pere Marquette River in west Michigan and learned quickly about how to fool wary trout, salmon, and steelhead. As years progressed, conventional tackle seemed to become an unfair advantage on the river and he began learning the art of fly fishing learning from anyone who would teach him. Steve guiding career started in his twenties on the Pere Marquette River and his depth of knowledge of west Michigan fisheries is extensive. In the spring, fall and winter he guides steelhead on the Pere Marquette River (as well as neighboring rivers). In the fall, king salmon are the target. As summer rolls in, he can be found guiding the flats of Beaver Island for giant carp and smallmouth. For a month or so in the winter Steve spends time in Louisiana guiding redfish. While these days most of his clients are fly fisherman, Steve welcomes the gear fisherman as well many times throughout the year. STM Outfitters is licensed and insured in all guided areas and can offer an experience of a lifetime for both beginners and experts year round.
