A former attending physician with the USCD Medical Center in San Diego, California, Sam Gerson, MD, provided a range of services in the fields of emergency medicine, diving/hyperbaric medicine, and emergency ultrasound. He laid the foundation for his successful career as a biology student at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduating with his BA, Sam Gerson attended the East/West Marine Biology Graduate Program at Boston, Massachusetts’ Northeastern University. He went on to earn his MD at Weill/Cornell Medical College in New York City.
While completing his residency in emergency medicine at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Samuel Gerson conducted significant studies on carbon monoxide poisoning as a research assistant in the Hospital’s Wound and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center. He went on to cocreate and codirect a trauma and emergency medicine course in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Sam Gerson’s other international service projects include serving as a director of triage at the Disaster Recovery Center in Fond Parisien, Haiti.
