Since 2008, senior software developer Rick McCoy has drawn on his experience to serve the Department of Family Protective Services in Austin, TX. His work as a systems analyst there helps the department protect sensitive information about the children and families they assist. Rick McCoy's contributions to the department include several new software developments, widespread upgrades, and testing COBOL to Java conversions as part of a significant modernization project. Prior to his current appointment, he lent his talents to Daman Consulting. Throughout a project with local client AMD, his team maintained an Oracle data warehouse for the company. In addition, his personal improvements to existing Ab Initio graphs and Korn shell scripts improved overall efficiency for AMD. When he finds time away from his work in software development, Mr. McCoy can often be found in the great outdoors. He enjoys nature walks for exercise, and extreme sports like rafting and skydiving for thrilling fun.
