My underlying lifelong commitment is helping people. I started my career in the health care setting and I am a highly trained Registered Nurse and Midwife. I worked in a school nurse setting for 8 years, during which time I gained valuable experience in caring for children and young adults and providing pastoral and emotional support, alongside with medical care. It was during my nursing and midwifery posts that the desire was instilled within me to pursue a career in counselling. I do believe that training in bereavement counselling for CRUSE and working with young adults for the YMCA has been a natural path for me to follow, as I feel I have an innate ability and motivation to care for people who need support of this nature.
