He currently focuses on matters surrounding commercial property construction and design, including defect issues in high-rise buildings. J. Mark Brewer also argues many commercial, tort, and business cases; negotiates and arbitrates various professional contracts; and facilitates dispute resolution proceedings.
J. Mark Brewer began his legal career at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he earned his Juris Doctor. He then went on to serve as a Chief Military Justice and Assistant Staff Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force. For four years, he heard more than 65 cases both at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and at Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall in England.
In the private sector, J. Mark Brewer has worked with Winstead, McGuir, Sechrest & Minick in Houston, Texas, as well as with Margolin & Kirwan in Kansas City, Missouri. He has earned admission to argue before the Bars of Texas and Missouri as well as the U.S. Supreme Court, four Circuits of the U.S. Courts of Appeal, and four U.S. District Courts across Texas and Missouri. He also holds admission to the U.S. Court of Appeal for the Armed Forces.
J. Mark Brewer frequently shares his expertise as an invited speaker at continuing legal education conferences. He has taught law at the University of Maryland and at Alabama's Troy University.
