Saffron is the most expensive crop on earth. Its common name is “saffron” and its scientific name is “crocus sativus”. The value of this crop caused it to be called “red gold”. Now, Iran is the world’s most important country which produces saffron, but it is cultivated in some other countries, such as Spain, Greece, India and Morocco.
