A modern take on the traditional 18th-century spirit okolehao, Hawaiian Moonshine is produced by Island Distillers in Honolulu from exclusively Hawaiian ingredients. At 100 proof, Hawaiian Moonshine is a strong, smooth, and delicious version of okolehao, which was first distilled in 1790 from the native ti root. Hawaiian Moonshine comes packaged in a stoneware bottle with a resealable swing top, the only Hawaiian-language liquor bottle in the world. The flavor has been described as “luxuriously smooth” and comes “highly recommended”.
Committed to creating pride in local beverages, distiller Dave Flintstone is also devoted to action in the local community. To that end, Island Distillers supports causes such as the Hawaii Council on Economic Education and the Junior League of Hawaii, as well as national organizations including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Engineers Without Borders.
