Prior to the Court of Appeals decision, mortgage companies could foreclose but not pay the association dues until after the redemption period expired (claiming the homeowners remain responsible for association dues…..sometimes for several months after they’ve moved out). Court of Appeals rules that mortgage companies are liable for condo association dues as of the sheriff sale date, not when the redemption period expires. http://tinyurl.com/leaphqb |
