A shower handle is a simple mechanism typically used in conjunction with a faucet. Components of the shower include the main lever that controls water output, the hose and head that allows water to flow through them, and behind it a pipe that connects the two separate parts mentioned above. The assembly is considered one ''shower'' or ''fixture,'' especially when referring to plumbing. A leaky fixture can result in poor performance as well as waste due to a lack of water pressure/flow. Repairing old handles should be done carefully due to age and having a low budget for replacement hardware make it even more important to do so slowly and with care. Whether you know how to fix a tub spout or not, replacing this unit will be a challenge. Newer models can be purchased for less than $20, and while the installation will not be difficult. For leaks around the pipe component of your shower, check it by pulling out the faucet handle. If water flows from where your hand is touching then you have an internal leak and need to change that part directly without replacing any of the other pieces. In order to do this, turn off all water valves near your shower (within its reach). Remove all screw caps located on top of or behind the fixture itself. Pull apart both parts while cutting off pipes of different sizes using pliers if necessary. Replace old hoses with new ones as well as new balls that enable the handle to move about freely. Tighten screws back in place and check for leaks as you
