A dedicated researcher and academic, Matthew Withiam-Leitch, MD, is an associate research professor at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. As the school’s Director of Disabilities Research, he investigates the social and medical challenges that face individuals who have recently acquired a disability. Focused on statistical techniques and methodologies surrounding kidney diseases and resultant disabilities, Dr. Matthew Withiam-Leitch has more than 20 published research studies to his credit during the past two decades.
From 2000 through 2004, Dr. Matthew Withiam-Leitch, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist (OBGYN), held the position of Vice President of the Board of University Gynecologists and Obstetricians. In recent years, he has received a variety of academic appointments at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. Beginning in 2000, Dr. Withiam-Leitch served as HIPAA and Medicare Compliance Coordinator in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, where he was also Associate Residency Program Director from 2002 through 2006. Additionally, Dr. Matthew Withiam-Leitch served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2000 to 2006, during which time he served on the medical school’s education committee. He was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor within the department in 2007, where he remained through 2009.
