Something People Would Be Surprised To Know About You
As founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Age of Learning, Inc., Doug Dohring leads an early learning education company that produces interactive online activities to help children ages two to six prepare for kindergarten and elementary school.
Doug Dohring founded Age of Learning in 2007, and in 2010, he launched its flagship education initiative, ABCmouse.com Early Learning Academy, a subscription-based online service that teaches mathematics, art, music, and other subjects through thousands of learning activities.
Age of Learning’s product development is guided by an experienced team of curriculum advisors with backgrounds in early childhood education, publishing, entertainment, science, and technology. And with the benefit of their extensive experience, ABCmouse.com helps young children to confidently learn basic subjects through fun and interactive lessons that incorporate online books, puzzles, art projects, songs, games, and more. Mr. Dohring and his team at ABCmouse.com have received several honors since the website’s formation, such as the Children’s Technology Review Editor’s Choice Award, Learning Magazine’s Teachers’ Choice Award, and the Parents’ Choice Gold Award.
Before creating Age of Learning and ABCmouse.com, Doug Dohring served as founder, chairman and CEO of NeoPets, Inc., through which he operated the virtual pet website neopets.com. One of the world’s most popular websites, neopets.com served more than 5 billion page views a month and generated revenue through its use of “Immersive Advertising,” an interactive, contextual method of advertising developed and trademarked by Mr. Dohring. Doug Dohring sold NeoPets to Viacom’s MTV Networks for $160 million in 2005. He had previously founded The Dohring Company, a successful market research firm based in Southern California.
