Dr. Dan Holtzclaw attended Texas A&M University before earning his DDS in dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Upon graduating from dental school cum laude, Dan Holtzclaw, DDS was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy. His first US Navy assignment was a general practice residency at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, in Virginia. After completing this intense hospital based training, he was stationed in Hawaii where he provided services as a staff dental officer at Naval Station Pearl Harbor. He served as director of the Wahiawa Branch Dental Clinic before returning to Maryland to continue his training in dentistry. Dr. Holtzclaw earned his second DDS degree, in periodontology, at the prestigious Naval Postgraduate Dental School concurrent to completing an MS in oral biology at the George Washington University.
Earning promotion to lieutenant commander, Dr. Holtzclaw was then stationed at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. As the head of the periodontics department, he provided dental care to members of the US Marine Corps, the US Coast Guard, and the world famous US Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team.
After 13 years of service in the US Navy, Dan Holtzclaw, DDS, has served as a dental surgeon at the Austin Dental Implant Center in Texas. He also serves as co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry and is an editorial adviser for multiple other dental journals.
