As principal of Seth Boyden Demonstration School, Damion Frye draws upon nearly 20 years of experience in progressive teaching roles in overseeing the school's budget, curriculum development, and relationships with community partners and the Parent Teacher Organization. In this regard, Damion Frye has helped create a more diverse group of involved parents and led the initiative to hire the district's first community liaison.
Prior to taking the position of principal, Damion Frye worked three years as special assistant to the assistant superintendent of Newark Public Schools. Mr. Frye has also worked as director of mathematics of New York Public Schools District 79 New York City, middle school dean of students at The Equity Project Charter School, and held adjunct professor positions at Montclair State University and New York University.
Mr. Frye spent the first nine years of his career as an English, math, and science teacher at middle schools and high schools throughout New Jersey and Massachusetts. He holds a master's degree in elementary education from Brown University and a bachelor's degree in African American studies from Bates College.
