A prominent figure in the mining industry, Brett Matich has more than 20 years’ experience extracting various minerals and ore. In 2011, Brett Matich was appointed president and CEO of the Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, venture capital firm Cap-Ex Iron Ore Ltd.
Before accepting this position with Cap-Ex, Brett Matich served as the managing director of the Australian Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange as well as Aztec Resources Ltd. While with Aztec, he helped develop an iron ore mining operation on a remote Western Australian island. Thanks to his efforts, Aztec annually extracts and exports more than 3 million tons of iron ore from the site.
As the president of Cap-Ex Iron Ore, Mr. Matich oversees all company mining operations in Canada, including a major iron-mining project near Schefferville, Quebec. In 2012, the Schefferville project required drilling down more than 22,300 meters, but has produced 7.2 billion tons of iron ore for the effort. In addition to overseeing the mining operations of Cap-Ex Iron Ore, Mr. Matich is the company’s largest shareholder.
