Udaipur and Mount-Abu are two major cities in the largest state of India, Rajasthan. Known for the palaces and forts, both the cities of Udaipur and Mount-Abu have important positions in the map of India especially in the tourism sector. Udaipur and Mount-Abu have rich cultural heritage and immense number of architectural splendors that give both of them fame and recognition world wide as great tourist spots. There is only a distance of about 167 km from Udaipur to Mount-Abu. Both these places of Udaipur and Mount-Abu are well-connected with each other via rail and road. But the most feasible and comfortable way to reach Mount-Abu from Udaipur is via road. Buses are the main source of transportation from Udaipur to Mount-Abu.
It takes a travel time of about 2 hours and 50 minutes to reach Mount-Abu from Udaipur via road. There are plenty of buses running between Udaipur and Mount-Abu frequently. Buses run by the State Road Transport Corpoaration, RSTC, as well as private agencies ply between Udaipur and Mount-Abu on an hourly basis. The buses run by the RSTC charge about 100 rupees per traveler and takes a travel time of about 4 hours to reach Mount-Abu from Udaipur. Taxis and private cabs are also good options to reach Mount-Abu from Udaipur. These cabs and taxis take almost 3 to 4 hours to reach Mount- Abu from Udaipur. They charge about 4000t to 7000 rupees round the trip depending upon the type of vehicle chosen by the traveler.
The most recommended routes to reach Mount-Abu from Udaipur are via National Highway 27, State Highway 50 and State Highway 10. The driving direction from Udaipur to Mount-Abu is as follows, head towards north and then turns right towards Bapu Bazar Road; turn left onto Bapu Bazar Road and then right towards State Highway 140. Take the first left onto SH 140 and pass by Suraj Pole Circle, follow NH 27 and go through the first round about, at the round about take the first exit to stay on NH 27. Pass the Darshan Dental College and Hospital and continmue onto NH 76. After passing the Hwy Petrol Pump, take slight left towards MDR 49. Take the first right and pass the Satova Park. Take right onto MDR 60 and pass the Aarna Hanumanji. Take slight right at the Jeep Stand and at about 400 meters from there is Mount-Abu. There is no airport at Mount-Abu and the railway station here is situated at about 13 km away at Abu Road. There are no direct trains from Udaipur to reach Mount-Abu. The trains that go via Ajmer Junction and then halt at Abu Road take duration between 10 and 18 hours.
