Delhi to Ghaziabad from the National Capital to the Industrial City
Delhi, the nerve centre of Indian politics and administration is also an ancient city with much historic importance. It is not only the seat of the present Indian Government, but it was also the centre of power from time immemorial. Believed to be the Indraprastha of the Mahabharata, Delhi was the capital of many dynasties like Lodhis, Khiljis, Thuglaks and the Mughals among others. During the British rule and the independence struggle, Delhi played a significant role in shaping the history of the country. Ghaziabad is one of the industrial cities in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Its geographical location near the national capital has helped it in developing into a planned city. Often called the Gateway to Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad is one of the fastest growing cities of the world. The Ghaziabad industries manufacture electric locomotive & EMU Trains, railway Wagons, bicycles, tapestries, glassware, pottery, paint and varnish and heavy chains among others. There is also a unit of the Bharat Electronics Limited for manufacturing defence products in Ghaziabad. Travelling from Delhi to Ghaziabad is fairly easy as both the cities are separated by a distance of just 24 km by road.
The time taken to cover this distance by car is around 45 mins. One can start from New Delhi and after about 20 km proceed through the Nizamuddin Bridge via Ghazipur Border & Dabar Chowk to reach Mohan Nagar. From there, (at the T Junction), one need to turn right & then left from Ghaziabad border traffic light on to NH 24 Hapur Road for reaching Ghaziabad. Apart from the road ways, travelling from Delhi to Ghaziabad is also possible by train. There are numerous trains to connect both the cities. It is to be noted that the trains to Ghaziabad depart from 3 stations in Delhi – the Delhi (DLI), New Delhi (NDLS) and H Nizamuddin (NZM) stations. Some of the important trains that ply between the two places are Jat Muri Rou Exp (18110), Haridwar Mail (19105), Dehradun Exp (19019), Nmh Kota Exp (29019) and the Bareilly Exp (14556) among others. Trains are best suited while travelling with kids, senior citizens or invalids. Online booking of tickets are facilitated by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourist Corporation (IRCTC) through their web site. Air travel is not possible between both the places as there is no airport in Ghaziabad. But travelling by taxi or bus is an excellent option to reach Ghaziabad from Delhi. The taxi fare varies according to the type of vehicle hired as well as the amenities included. Apart from this, there are numerous buses that connect both the cities quite comfortably. For the adventurous, even riding a bike is an excellent option.
