NFL Draft's best player Joe Burrow will transform Bengals into legitimate contender |

The No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft is quite polarizing , as there have been a number of major busts, but also plenty of generational, franchise-changing players that went on to win Super Bowls after being taken in that spot. JaMarcus Russell and Tim Couch both were No. 1 picks, and, coincidentally, the shared theme is that both were taken by organizations not known for winning at the time, in the Browns and Raiders. Fast-forward to present day, and both teams are still looking to build their rosters, as well as establish stability in their front office. But there’s also Peyton Manning who took a Colts team that had been stuck at the bottom of its division for years to two Super Bowls. The Colts went on to win one, and Manning later ended his career garnering an additional championship ring with the Broncos. Credit: Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports Enter Joe Burrow. The LSU product is a lock to be the first player off the board, and it sure doesn’t look like the Bengals have any interest in trading down and missing out on this generational talent. Burrow, after all, grew up in Ohio, and he’s a homegrown player that fans can rally around. Not only that, he’s also unbelievably good. Even Bengals owner/general manager Mike Brown is smart enough to recognize the opportunity in front of him. Sure, the team has a number of holes to fill on the roster, which is why a team like the Dolphins that can offer multiple first-round draft picks will likely be able to put forth an attractive offer, but passing on a player as talented as Burrow just isn’t an option, especially for a franchise that is starved for a superstar. Bengals fans have suffered for decades, as they’ve passionately supported a team that has never won a Super Bowl in its history. Burrow, however, gives them hope that they can eventually do exactly that in the future. His 5,671 yards, with 60 touchdown passes and only six interceptions, give whichever team drafts him immediate hope for their future. Not only that, his uncanny ability to fit throws into ultra-tight windows and read opposing defenses prove he’ll be successful in the NFL. The Bengals currently hold the No. 1 pick in the draft looking good in all NFL odds, and when they take Burrow, expect them to eventually develop into a team that will contend for a Super Bowl in the future. He’s simply that great of a player. Image credits: USA Today Sports
