Are You A Hoarder? |

Are You a Hoarder? Are you a person who holds onto things for too long? We associate hoarding with ‘stuff”, don’t we? But what about holding on to jobs, people or even beliefs? Are you hoarding there, too? Do you stay in work situations, relationships, and friendships too long? Do you ignore the signs and signals? Well, that prompts a couple questions for me: First, what’s “too long”, huh? Second, what do these signs look like? I didn’t get any signs.
I’ll take this one…
“Too long” is one minute past awareness. The moment you become aware of the dysfunction, the drama, the negativity, DROP ANY ATTACHMENT TO IT LIKE A HOT POTATO. You can’t change what you don’t know [ that’s why denial is so deadly ] but once you know, it’s all you, Peaches. Now regarding the second question about getting signs…oh, you got ‘em. You just learned how to ignore and avoid them. Consciously, that is. The subconscious didn’t miss a thing and yes, it is sending signals about your choices through your body. Gut problems, migraines, can’t sleep, sleep all the time, short of breath….you don’t think those are signals? Think of your dysfunction signals like milk - when it exceeds its expiration date, do you keep drinking it? Not if you’re aware it expired…. But what if you’re not aware…? See, we have defense mechanisms that help us function in the dysfunction. That’s their job to keep us unaware. They aren’t going to tell us when we’re drinking expired milk. How do you know when it’s time to dump the milk and move forward in your life? [It took 35 years and a lot of drama before I saw the “expiration date”. Seriously.] Let your body tell you. The body will tell you something is wrong long before your mind will recognize the same truth. So get still. Get quiet and listen to your brilliant body. Often the most important thing in communication is hearing what ISN'T said.
