There are plenty of things any business owner must constantly keep track of if they want to create a perfect environment for their business to flourish. When it comes to workers, a lot of things can influence how they feel and how efficiently they work, and you are probably reading this article while taking a break from your job. Before you go back to work, even you yourself can suggest some improvements, which range from small DIY tasks to major change-overs that you’ll be able to do only with the help of your superiors. 1. The Importance of LightThere is nothing like natural sunlight that can help the overall feel of an office space, and increase productivity. People who can see the natural cycle of the day, from morning to dusk, are more creative, and have more energy to use when it comes to their work. Workers who work in a well-lit environment perform much better than their counterparts that work in an office space without natural light. But no matter what, you will need artificial light, and most companies use fluorescent lights, which provide bright white color. Fluorescent lights are cheap, they last very long, but they provide only cold white light, something that does not necessarily promotes efficiency, and it can be too strict, or boring. Solution: Bring your own lamp, and put it on your desk, make sure to use the light bulb that produces warmer light. Ask your manager about replacing cold fluorescent lights with a more natural version, or even have a few lamps around the office. This can greatly increase both the mood and the productivity. 2. Ergonomic ToolsAsk your boss whether you can bring your own chair to work, which suits you and where you can work many hours a day without causing yourself back and neck pain. The level of your chair should be as to allow your thighs to be parallel to the floor, and your feet firmly on the ground. If your chair doesn’t have any kind of lumbar support, you can buy a simple pillow or a small cushion to help you out. Your desk should neither be too high nor too low, so find a way to adjust it. If you use the telephone a lot, use a headset, which will enable you to have a conversation without having to keep the phone between your head and your shoulder all the time. Solution: Ask your boss about buying better chairs, or bringing your own to work. Adjust the height of your desk as to fit your needs. Bring your headset that is comfortable, the same applies to headphones if you enjoy listening to the music. 3. Bring Some ColorMost offices are blue, and the furniture inside is black. This presents your business, how important it is for you to do your job, but it can get boring real quick, and all of this can, over time, negatively influence your productivity. Some colors are better for boosting productivity, while others are much better for action and thinking. Plants are also important, not only because they make any space look nicer, but also because they can clean the air, and make your feel more pleasant. Solution: Ask about recoloring your office, and introducing some more interesting colors. This can even prevent mold from appearing, and a new coat of paint can help out with that. Think about blue, which can stimulate thinking, or yellow which is good for creativity. Red and green are also interesting choices. If you cannot influence the color of your office, you can bring some accessories like smaller items, posters, pictures, that can enhance your work environment, without changing anything permanently. You need to find the perfect balance which will enable you to improve your office space without pushing the limit too far. Talk with your supervisors, and depending on the type of company that you work in, some will be more than eager to hear your suggestions, while other will dismiss them. According to that, you can create your own solutions, and make your office space truly yours. This will make everyone around you feel better, and ,without any doubt, increase your productivity at work.
