The Top 10 Most Expensive Cars |
Posted: November 28, 2017 |
Car ownership has become a standard part of Australian life. Most people find cars necessary to get them to their job every day, but for a lot of Australian’s, they are a hobby and a lifelong passion. Whatever the case, just over 84 per cent of Australians own one or more motor vehicles. Car types vary from household to household, but we think it’s safe to say that most Aussies can only dream of owning the ones on this list. The cars of the 1 per cent, the rich and famous, are about much more than transportation or a hobby. These vehicles are all class, boasting sleek designs, powerful insides and huge price tags. If you want to calculate the loan you would need to buy one of these, or maybe just your next ride, RateCity has a simple, easy to use calculator. Here’s the top 10 most expensive cars. Our list consists of recent, road-legal production vehicles only.
10. Koenigsegg Regera - $2 million Our first car is what’s known as a hybrid hypercar, meaning it’s powered by both a twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 and a 4.5-kWh battery pack. This car out shines the more well-known hypercars of McLaren and Porsche with over 1,500 horse power in total. The car is extremely lightweight, 1,469 kgs, which means it goes 0 to 186 mph in 10 seconds.
9. Koenigsegg One:1 - $2 million The One:1 is one of the fastest and most advanced vehicles on the planet. It got its name from its 1:1 kilogram to horsepower ratio. It’s weight and horsepower are both 1,340 giving this car a top, theoretical, speed of 273 mph. For those of you interested in picking one up, only six of them were ever built and have all since been purchased.
8. Bugatti Chiron - $2.5 million Bugatti had a tough gig to follow after it shocked the world with its high-performance Veyron model, but they have done it again. $2.5 million might seem like a lot, but when you see, hear and feel the power of the Chiron, you might begin to understand why. Its reworked engine now produces 1,500 hp to send the car hurtling to 60 mph in a quick 2.5 seconds.
7. Ferrari F60 America - $2.5 million Only 10 of these cars were built to celebrate Ferrari’s 60-year occupancy in North America. The car is coloured in the patriotic American colours of red, white and blue. The car isn’t the fastest, reaching 60 mph in 3.1 seconds but it’s beautiful design makes up for it, with a subtle reference to the company’s region-specific sports cars of the 50’s and 60’s.
6. Pagani Huayra BC - $2.6 million The previous Huayra was the holder of the second fastest road-legal Top Gear lap ever, but that clearly wasn’t enough for Pagani, so they bought out the BC model. It’s super light at just 1203 kgs and has 789 hp under its hood.
5. Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio - $3 million Again, this is a very rare car with only 6 ever made, but it was made more so by the automaker selecting who could purchase a vehicle through invite-only. The Sergio incorporates innovative designs throughout its exterior and interior, making it a lightweight beast.
4. Limited Edition Bugatti Veyron by Mansory Vivere - $ 3.4 million The Bugatti Veyron is almost certain to make every “top” car list, but this limited edition is one of the fastest and most expensive. The 1,200 hp pushes this car to over 254 mph, a ridiculous speed for a car that is just as much a piece of art as it is a vehicle.
3. W Motors Lykan Hypersport - $3.4 million Rounding out our top 3, the Lykan Hypersport is a car with complete style. It gives off a look of fierce sporty fury, with scissor style doors, and jewel-encrusted headlights. It’s not just all about its looks though. The Hypersport can hit speeds of 240 mph, 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds.
2. Lamborghini Veneno - $4.5 million Translated from Spanish, the Poison was built to celebrate the automakers 50th birthday. The Veneno lives up to its name with a truly venomous look. Sharp and sleek, the 6.5 litre engine delivers 740 hp, in terms of this list, that’s pretty conservative.
1. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita - $4.8 million The most expensive street-legal production car in the world is the Trevita. Yes, this car’s fast, it boasts 1,004 horsepower with a dual-supercharged V8, but the kicker? This car is coated in diamonds, real diamonds. The makers made a new type of exterior finish which they call the Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave. If you were to own one of the three ever made, would you even dare take it outside?
