Buying a Motorcycle- A Guide for New Riders |
Posted: August 18, 2016 |
Buying your first bike can be pretty difficult, especially if you don’t have much knowledge about bikes. Prices for new bikes start from just a few thousand dollars, and can go very high depending upon the model you may choose. However, there are many different factors that can determine the bike that’s best for you. Even if you have the money to buy a high-end model, it might not be a wise idea if you are not an experienced rider. Even though companies have tried to incorporate a host of different safety features, the modern bike is still quite unsafe. If you want to avoid the likelihood of a crash, you need to be very careful when searching for a new bike. One of the most important things that you need to keep in mind when looking for a motorcycle is to buy it from a reputable place. This is even more important if you are buying a used bike. Major dealerships such as Wheels Motorcycles have a solid reputation in the market, and as a result, they are extra careful when purchasing and re-selling used bikes. As a result, it’s unlikely that the dealers will misrepresent or defraud customers. As a new rider, there are many things that you might not know about bikes. Rather than take a risk, it’s best to buy your first bike from a reputable dealership. Don’t Go for the Looks Many enthusiastic riders often prefer going for the looks. After all, if you are getting a Kawasaki ZX10r for sale at an affordable price, would you really want to resist? It’s probably one of the hottest looking bikes in the market right now, and it’s brimming with power underneath that sleek and svelte chassis. However, can you really handle all of that power of the Kawasaki ZX10r? Companies such as Wheels Motorcycles sell a wide variety of new and used bikes. The worst mistake that you can make as a rider is to go for a bike that just looks appealing and offers little else. There are many simple-looking bikes that have earned rave reviews from all over the globe. For instance, two of the best bikes for beginners are the Yamaha YBR125 or the Honda CBR500r. Obviously, this isn’t a fair comparison as the Yamaha is seriously under-powered, though it’s equipped with one of the most reliable engines in the two-wheeled world. Consider Your Requirements The primary question you need to ask yourself is: what are you really going to use the bike for? For regular riders who need a bike for regular commutes, you will need to consider the fuel economy of the bike. If you are buying a bike with over 1,000cc of power, can you really afford to pay for the fuel? It might be a wise idea to buy something that’s more reliable and less costly to maintain. However, if you just need a bike for racing or to satisfy the rider’s urge in you, it might be a wise idea to buy something in the medium range first and get to grips with it before moving on to a more powerful model.
