Great hardware doesn’t always guarantee a great user experience. With so many different Android skins out there, the user experience isn’t comparable across devices with almost the same hardware. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is known to be one of the heaviest and most resource-intensive out there, providing a sub-par user experience when compared to other devices with the same hardware. Comparatively, the HTC Sense UI on Desire Eye is much lighter and offers a superior user experience. The only major flaw with the HTC One M8 is its 4MP Elephone P7 Mini free shipping UltraPixel rear camera. While HTC made big claims about the performance of the camera, they didn’t really turn out to be actually true. The low resolution simply doesn’t cut it in 2014. Thankfully, the Desire Eye addresses that complaint with dual 13MP cameras. That’s right. It comes with a 13MP front as well as a rear camera. That really makes it the ultimate selfie phone. There is still no 4K video recording though. The Desire Eye’s 13MP front-facing camera with a 20mm wide-angle lens certainly blows away the S5’s 2MP selfie cam. But the rear camera definitely cannot beat its excellent 16MP ISOCELL sensor camera. The Galaxy S5 also offers 4K video recording. HTC has crammed in a lot of features from the One M8 flagship to the Desire Eye. You get the HTC BoomSound stereo speakers with a built-in amplifier, three dedicated microphones for fantastic voice quality, and HTC Eye Imaging software with unique features like face tracking, screen sharing, split-capture, Crop-Me-In, and voice selfies. Samsung’s Galaxy S5 has a wide range of features as well, like the heart rate sensor, fingerprint scanner, IR universal remote functionality, and the S Health application suite. So which one is the better device? As you would have realized by now, both devices are meant for different types of consumers. The Desire Eye is for those who love to flaunt their smartphones, would really make use of the fantastic selfie camera, and prefer the lighter and more functional HTC Sense UI. The Galaxy S5 is more suited to power users who want the extra battery stamina and the better rear camera. Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC Desire Eye: Design, Display, Camera, Specs, Features Samsung Galaxy S5 HTC Desire Eye 300x128HTC Desire Eye is the latest offering from the the Taiwanese giant and even though the device does have some pretty interesting specs, we can not help but imagine how it will compare to the good old Samsung Galaxy S5. The HTC Desire Eye might pack flagship-grade hardware specs, but it doesn’t come with the flagship-grade build quality and design of the HTC One M8 smartphone. There is no metal unibody design here. Instead, what you get is a premium polycarbonate build with a funky dual-color finish. The design language is in line with the recently launched Desire line of mid-range devices. It’s dust and water resistant though, so that’s definitely an advantage over the M8. The only disappointing aspect of the design: the large bezels, which make it a little too big for a device with a 5.2-inch display. The display comes with the same 1080p resolution as most other flagship devices out there. HTC has been known for fantastic displays and the Desire Eye is no exception. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has the same familiar design as many other Galaxy devices and doesn’t really have any design aspects that you would really be crazy about. The dust and water resistance with an IP67 certification is one of the few things that differentiate it from its predecessors. The polycarbonate build and the faux-leather back cover don’t really impress much in terms of aesthetics and feel in the hand. The Super AMOLED 5.1-inch panel improves upon the earlier Super AMOLED panels, but cannot compete with the best LCDs when it comes to brightness and color accuracy. If you’re a fan of vivid and contrasty image quality though, the S5 would certainly please you with its display. As we mentioned earlier, the Desire Eye is definitely flagship grade when it comes to hardware specifications. It’s actually quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in most areas. Both come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, but the S5 comes with the higher-clocked variant (2.5GHz) HUAWEI Ascend G6 free shipping , while the Desire Eye makes use of the lower-clocked 2.3GHz variant. Both offer the same amount of RAM as well as connectivity options like LTE Cat.6, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. Internal storage on the Desire Eye is 16GB, while the Galaxy S5 comes with a higher 32GB model as well. The two smartphones are evenly matched in terms of hardware specs, but the battery capacity is lower on the Desire Eye. Battery life is an extremely critical buying criteria for many, so the 2400mAh battery of the Desire Eye would definitely make you think twice before getting it. The Galaxy S5 isn’t the best out there in terms of battery stamina, but its 2800mAh battery does provide better stamina.
