A leader in the nonprofit sector, Beth Southorn serves as executive director of LifeSTEPS, Inc., in Fair Oaks, California. The organization delivers a high standard of social service to individuals and families residing in affordable-housing communities. Under Beth Southorn’s guidance, LifeSTEPS has promoted literacy through its innovative, student-focused program that helps maintain reading skills through the summer by encouraging participants to check out books from public libraries and read them for at least 20 minutes per day.
Besides her commitment to LifeSTEPS, Beth Southorn supports United Outreach of El Dorado County in her capacity as training manager and emergency homeless shelter program developer. Over her tenure, she has hired talented staff members and mentored them in their growth while building relationships with other agencies to help people impacted by homelessness.
In terms of professional organizations, Southorn belongs to the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California, the California Council for Affordable Housing, and sits on the Board of Governors of the California Housing Consortium.
