A PhD candidate at the University of Texas at Austin, Allison Schottenstein focuses on American Jewish history with an emphasis in ethnic history and religion. While pursuing her MA, also at UT-Austin, she developed a highly respected thesis that received the Lewis L. Gould Best Thesis Prize and the Perry Prize for outstanding master’s report/thesis. Allison Schottenstein currently serves as an editor of college admissions essays with Scholar’s Compass. She has also written eight academic book reviews for the publication PopMatters.
A number of prestigious organizations have publicly recognized Allison Schottenstein’s work in Jewish studies. She has won an Elsie Witt Award for Excellence in Judaic Studies, a Henrietta and David Chassler Prize in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, and a Ruth B. Fein Prize from the American Jewish Historical Society. Ms. Schottenstein also received a grant from the Southern Jewish Historical Society and delivered a presentation before the organization in October of 2014.
