Maranatha Christian Academy was established in 1978 by Bloomington Church of God, (later renamed Cathedral of Praise). Late in the fall of 1987, Cathedral of Praise reassessed its mission and ability to support a Christian school. As a result, during the 1987-1988 school year, Living Word Christian Center purchased MCA and made it an outreach of the ministry. The fall of 1999 saw Maranatha open a north campus located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. The south campus located in Minneapolis served elementary students and the north campus housed pre-kindergarten and the secondary schools. Prior to the start of the 2009-2010 school year, Maranatha consolidated its campuses to the north location in Brooklyn Park, MN, where the Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 currently located. Doing this will allow for continued growth and improvement. MCA is committed to Christ-centered educational excellence.
