How We Got Started
Throughout my journey, I identified three major shortcomings in the industry.
First, many buildings lack objective beauty. Designers often treat human nature as arbitrary, imposing designs that feel alienating or trendy and are not meant to last. Beauty is achieved by recognizing that architectural elements should reflect our natural experience of the world, like how arched doorways mirror the flat ground and curved sky.
Second, designers often fail to have meaningful conversations with clients to truly capture their needs and wants. In my experience, the most successful designers are not the most assertive or charismatic but those who listen attentively and authentically. This approach brings out genuine ideas that can be discussed and implemented into the design.
Lastly, construction drawings are not given the seriousness they deserve. Good construction drawings should tell a coherent story, avoiding overused information, inconsistencies, and thoughtless structural configurations. Quality construction drawings can save thousands, avoid delays, and ensure the building is constructed as envisioned.
These experiences led me to start AC Architectural Design, to bring you objective beauty, authenticity, and attention to detail to create lasting and impactful designs.
