The City and County of Denver, Colorado just recently restored the Cross Sculpture located near the intersection of Speer Boulevard and West Colfax, the Auraria Triangle. The Silo Workshop was contracted to do the restoration and they contracted out Lightning Mobile Inc., to perform all of the paint removal.
The metal surface is steel and we utilized nickel slag to media blast remove all of the existing paint down to white (bare) metal. As you can the sculpture was taken apart and removed from its location. The sections were then taken to Lightning Mobile Inc’s facility where the paint removal was performed.
A nickel slag is many times a good abrasive media to use to remove paint from metal surfaces. This sculpture is made of steel and Plexiglas. As you can see from our video to the left, the paint was easily and nicely removed, exposing without any damage the steel surface.
Lightning Mobile Inc., is Colorado’s premier commercial and industrial property maintenance company. |
