Thoracic Drainage Catheters for medical tool
| A Thoracic Drainage Catheter is normally referred to as a chest tube. It's a medical device designed to aspirate air, fluid, or pus from the pleural space, which is the area between the lungs and the chest wall. This device is applied for collapsed lung therapy, accumulated blood within the cavity of the chest, excess fluid, or infection with pus. The catheter is normally prepared from a type of flexible, medical-grade plastic and is inserted through a small incision in the chest wall under sterile conditions. This is usually combined with imaging techniques such as ultrasound or X-ray to guide the insertion. The catheter's distal end is attached to a drainage system that uses gravity or suction to remove unwanted contents so the lung may re-expand and function normally. This procedure is very essential in the stabilization of patients whose respiratory functions are compromised and also in avoiding serious complications of the infection of respiratory failure.
