It's the story of a morbidly obese patient who suffered from panniculus morbidus a painful condition which can cause recurrent and disabling infections of the skin in the lower abdominal area due to the dense layer of fatty tissue that hangs below the beltline. Cynthia Hales, a Trinity patient, had a sixty-seven pound panniculus that was threatening her life, but Dr. David Shirfrin, a plastic/reconstructive surgeon at Trinity Hospital, gave her hope.
