Delhi Legislative Assembly election was held on 4th Dec, 2013 and the result announced on 8th Dec, 2013. Bharatiya Janata Party won with 32 seats, closely followed by AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) with 28 seats in its first election and congress only 8. Therefore it emerged a hung assembly. Election commission of India enforced a “None of the above” (NOTA) voting option for the first time of the first five elections. Also for the first, the Election Commission of India settled Central Awareness Observers; the main task of the CAO was to oversee voter awareness and facilitation.
The counting of the votes in Delhi began at 8 am and total 11,993 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been kept under high security in 14 counting centers across the city.
The three time functionary Sheila Dixit has been defeated by AAP’s Arvind Kejirwal. The result points to the Delhi’s diversion to the hung assembly, there may be another election in next six months. Specially, now when AAP is stick with its stand of not merging or forming any other party with BJP or Congress.
"Our pitch was against the established corrupt political traditions in India. A vote for us, is a both against the Congress and BJP. We won't ally with them and let our voters down," said Atishi of AAP.
