Stockholm has been frequently ranked as one of the best cities in the world in which to live and work. It is also one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, with millions of people visiting the city each year. Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and is also the most populous city in the Nordic countries, with almost 3.5 million people residing in this sprawling metropolis. It is the economic, cultural, social, media, and political hub of Sweden, and some of the world’s largest corporations are headquartered in Stockholm. Stockholm is a paradise for tourists who are interested in art, culture, and history. There are historical sites and a plethora of museums that depict the history of Sweden in fascinating detail. One of the most amazing places in Stockholm is the Junibacken museum. It is a children’s museum and is the fifth most-visited tourist attraction in all of Sweden. The museum primarily focuses on children’s literature. Most of the works in the museum are from Estrid Lindgren, a celebrated Swedish fiction writer. Lindgren is most famous for her children’s book series. The History of Junibacken This gorgeous tourist attraction is located on the island of Djurgarden. It’s right in the centre of Stockholm, and was officially opened to the general populace back in 1996. The Swedish Royal Family attended the inauguration. The museum was founded by Peder Wallenberg, Fredrik Urstrom, and Staffan Gotestam. It provides a fascinating insight into the history of children’s literature and how literature has developed over the years. Just outside the museum is a beautiful statue of Estrid Lindgren, resplendent in bronze. Martin Tornqvist, a celebrated artist, is responsible for the images, art direction, and interior design of the museum. Tornqvist had also worked with Lindgren in the past, creating illustrations for many of her children’s books. The museum is also home to the largest bookstore for children in Sweden. The museum has a Storybook Square, where each house is dedicated to a famous Swedish author with famous names such as Sven Nordqvist and Elsa Beskow. Throughout the museum, you will find framed pictures and copies of the works of Estrid Lindgren. Inside the museum, there’s also a theatre, an exhibition space, and a restaurant.
