Chennai, located on Coromandel Coast of Bay of Bengal, is known as the gateway to South India. Chennai is considered as the seat of culture and learning. Distance from Chennai to Bangalore, capital of Karnataka, is about 350 km. Located in Deccan Plateau, Bangalore is known by several nicknames like ‘Pensioner’s Paradise’ and ‘City of Gardens’. Bangalore now is a major centre of information technology and is known as the ‘Silicon Valley of India’. Bangalore Palace and Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace are among the major historical monuments. Built in 1956, Vidhan Soudha is an imposing granite building. Popular places of worship in the city include Bull Temple, Shri Nimishamba Devi Temple, Iskcon temple, Infant Jesus Church, St. Mary’s Basilica, Tawakkal Masjid, Jumma Masjid, Masjid-e-Khadrik and Dargah Hazarat. There are some trains running on certain days of the week. Bangalore can be reached from Chennai by road. Volvo, Deluxe and state transport buses are running on this route regularly. Taxi cabs are also available to travel from Chennai to Bangalore. Road route takes five hours to reach destination from Chennai.
