Wifikill is an android application developed by bponury over at XDA. This is an amazing application using which you can control any wifi network you are connected to fully.
Things you can do with WifiKill -
- See all users connected to your network - It does not matter if you own the wifi network or not, you can simply open the app to see a list of all the devices that are connected to the wifi network. Detailed information about each device, including its IP address, MAC address and device name are visible. The only drawback is that this info is not updated dynamically and you may need to refresh the page to see newly connected/disconnected users.
- You can disconnect any device from the network and disable him from using the internet - This is the feature due to which this app has gained so much popularity. You can simply select any device and click on kick user to ban him from using the network. What happens is that the device is fooled into beliving that your device is the router through spoofing.
- Monitor bandwith - You can check how much bandwidth is used by which device and why the network is running slow. This is an extremely usefull feature for hostels, public places and hotels where one user eats up the whole bandwidth and leaves the network inaccesible for others.
How much does this app cost?
This app is totally free, and it does not cost anything. You can simply download it from XDA and enjoy using the app. Additionally the developer has promised to never make the app paid.
But, the app does have Ads for monetization purposes.
Is this App Legal?
This might be a debatable topic, but you should not face any legal problems if you use the app for securing your own private network.
But, if you are using it on a public network, which is not your property. You may face legal charges.
