What are the Major Types of Hydraulic Coupling |

Hydraulic couplings are designed to connect two pipes and hoses in high-pressure hydraulic systems. These couplings are made from carbon alloy steels materials which are typically robust in nature. Hydraulic couplings allow pipes or hoses to be joined or removed quickly With Fewer Efforts. These Couplers Have To Handle High Pressure Than Normal Regular Ones Do. What are the Major Types of Hydraulic Coupling? There are three types of hydraulic couplings used nowadays. They are as follows, 1.Mated angle type 2.Threaded type 3.O-Ring type Mated Angle Type: Mated angle couplings create a seal to connect the male and female threads in order to provide a tight connection. These connectors are used to withstand low-pressure machinery which requires easy and quick modification. Mated angle couplings can be detachable and reconfigured for low-pressure, low-power hydraulic systems for light works. They are widely common in water transfer systems and refrigeration lines. These couplings offer less leak, lower heat, and pressure resistance when compared with other ones. Threaded Type: The threaded coupling has two types of threads, a male thread which is having threads on the outer side, and a female thread has threads on the inner side. These male and female threads are joined together and deform the tapered threads then applying pressure on one another. This forms a tight seal between the joints. This type of coupler is fitted by using a wrench and creates a tight, immovable seal lock for the flow of hydraulic liquids. O-Ring Type: O-Ring couplings are designed to create a strong seal on high-pressure hydraulic equipment. They are further divided into three types. O-Ring boss: In this type, straight threads are making the connection while the O-ring rubber makes a seal. The threads which pull the O-ring against the port, which is having a machine grooved O-ring flattens it and provides extra seal for the high-pressure applications. Flat face O-Ring: Flat face O-ring has a ring that sits on the groove of the male’s face. This made a seal when the male O-ring meets the flat face of the female. The solid male face seal will fit only the swivel female O-ring seal fitting. O-Ring flange: These are used to make larger diameter connections with high pressure. This type is surrounded by a flat smooth surface which is having tapped bolts and mounting bolts, which are tightened together with the flange clamps. This type of coupling doesn’t have any threads. The flange itself acts as a groove for this type. Where are Hydraulic Couplings Used? Hydraulic couplings are used in most gas and fluid systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic installations. These quick Connect Couplers are specially designed for use in hydraulic pressure oil systems to provide extra sealing. Conclusion Hydraulic coupling is a device that is used to connect the two pipes, without giving any loss in the transmission of the hydraulic fluids that come under high pressure. From the above, you can have a clear idea of the types of hydraulic coupling in order to select the best one for your need.
