FIFA World Cup started in 1930 where thirteen teams participated in the championship held in Uruguay. Since then, 77 countries worldwide have come together every four years to play the tournament, except in the 1940’s. FIFA World Cup is the most prestigious soccer trophy San Diego, designed elegantly to catch the eyes of many people. Here is a list of won FIFA World Cup from 1994 to 2014. USA 1994: Brazil When Brazil defeated Italy in ’94 on penalty kicks, it became the first country to win the final by shootout. Romário won the Golden Ball award by scoring five goals, and Brazil was voted the Most Entertaining Team and won the FIFA Fair Play Trophy. The US chose this as the mascot for the tournament. France 1998: France France was the sixth country to win the FIFA World Cup in the homeland. The French goalkeeper won the inaugural Yashin award by letting in only two goals, where eight French players scored in the tournament. Zinedine Zidane headlined the French attack and the team ended with plus-13 goal differential. The team was also voted the Most Entertaining Team and awarded the FIFA Fair Play Trophy. Korea-Japan 2002: Brazil 2002 FIFA World Cup was Ronaldo’s World Cup. The Brazilian striker was awarded the Golden Boot (highest scoring player), scoring total eight goals in the tournament. Two of which were in the final when Brazil shut out Germany 2-0 and achieved their record fifth World Cup. Rolando and other teammates: Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Robert Carlos, were voted to them and finished with a plus-14 goal differential and 7-0-0 record. Germany 2006: Italy Italy’s victory over France was one of the most memorable ones. Italy not just win 5-3 penalty kicks, but Zinedine Zidane got red-carded head-butting Marco Materazzi in free-time. Italy’s goalkeeper won the Yashin award and was among the seven Italian players who were voted to the All-Star Team. South Africa 2010: Spain The Spanish team was special in 2010, which makes mysterious its early exit in Brazil. South Africa scored in the 116th minute against the Netherlands to give Spain their first FIFA World Cup. The whole team was voted onto the team of the tournament. The goalkeeper Iker Casillas won the Golden Glove award (old name Yashin Award). Spanish team also won the FIFA Fair Play Trophy. Brazil 2014: Germany Germany is the first European team to win FIFA World Cup in South America. Nothing seemed predictable in the tournament and Germany never looked completely convincing en route to their final against Argentina and needed extra time to knock out unfavored Algeria in the first round. Die Mannschaft inflicted a record-breaking 7-1 thrashing on the tournament and hosted Brazil in the semis.
