Zapped or Sapped? |

Zapped or Sapped? When I worked at Marriott, I remember a training devoted to this: do people or situations zap you or sap you? Basically, are they energy takers [sappers] or givers [zappers]? Love this concept, though I haven’t always been mindful of it. Here’s the $64,000 question: does your job or relationship leave you feeling drained or excited? Do you shop at stores with angry clerks? Is your desk so disorganized you can’t find your papers? Have you even considered how this energy impacts you? Or do you just put up with it? [ok, that was more than one question] I hear a “it’s not so bad” coming… We say that to avoid changing. For some reason, we think the pain of changing is worse than the pain of remaining the same. [that’s what the ego voice wants you to believe. Score!] So we remain in the misery of the mediocrity. ANY job is better than NO job, right? ANY girlfriend is better than NO girlfriend, right? I only see this bank teller once a week…. Who you trying to convince, Cowboy? Get honest is step one. You don’t need to take any action, but do yourself a favor and admit the truth. After you get honest, THEN decide whether to take action or not. Try it for a few days…at home, at work, in public, ask yourself, “Is this draining me or exciting me?
