Using a Google Calendar or Alternative For Church Planning |
Posted: March 1, 2021 |
A few days ago I was looking through our church and its Google Calendar for Church Planning activities. I noticed that someone added something and it was a "Calendar for Churches" area. I have nothing to do with churches, so I thought I would take a look at it to see if it would be of use. It seems to be a really neat application. If you are a church leader or someone who is planning on starting a church, you may want to consider downloading this calendar or finding a good Google calendar alternative for your church. First of all, you can create your own list of events to be able to track your planning activities. Once the calendar is installed, you can choose from many pre-defined themes so you can have a blank slate when it comes to designing your events. Once you have created your list, you can just drag and drop event information onto the calendar so you can organize your events. Another great feature of the calendar is that you can mark an event as complete if you so choose. For example, if you are planning on doing a fundraising event and would like to make sure that the funds raisers go forward then you can mark the event completed. The only thing left to do is send an email to the donors with the link to the completed fund raiser. There are also many other event types that will make your life easier. If you are planning on holding a grand opening celebration, you can set up an event like this in your alternative Google calendar for church planning software.
Even though there are many events on the calendar, they are organized by category. You can select the category from the left hand navigation pane and then type in something like "Cathedrals," "Christian Schools," "Conference/ Convention," "Dog Park," etc. If you plan on using an alternative to a Google calendar for more than just a single event, you will probably want to make a list of all of the events you have scheduled. To do this, simply click on the plus sign icon and type in the list of categories that you would like to see on the calendar. Make sure that you type in the correct category if you are editing an existing list. For events like meetings or workshops, you can also add an attendees list to make it easy to keep track of who is coming to your next meeting or workshop. For example, if you are having a workshop on a particular subject, but don't have the room to meet with everyone who might be interested, you can mark attendees in the event column. When it comes to publishing the church calendar to your website, you will want to make sure that you use the appropriate settings so that the events are formatted properly. Many people find that using the html editor makes the events much easier to read, but if you want the calendar to be very professional, you will want to use the text-based formatting so that it looks perfect on any size computer screen. The ability to easily view and print off each month's church newsletter, bulletins, and events will save you time and money. It is also convenient to have the information on hand so that you can plan activities or meetings that are convenient for everyone involved. By using the calendar program for church planning, you can be certain that your church remains on top of its tasks, no matter what they may be.
