On Dec. 11, Eliot Jordan celebrated his 25th year with Peet’s. I have had the personal privilege to know Eliot seven of those years. I chose the word “privilege” carefully, as Eliot is a unique individual that brings dedication, hard work, a unique perspective, a love of coffee and a heart for tea. He performs his craft with a passion, a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to share. He never brings a problem without a solution.
Eliot started his career in Vine Street in 1984 as a staff person and became the coffee and tea tasting trainer for all stores in 1990. In July of 1996, Eliot assumed additional responsibility as assistant tea buyer and in 2002 became the director of tea, purchasing and marketing. His contributions to the company range far and wide.
Twenty-five years, as Eliot reminded me, is over half his life. Read the quotes below from colleagues and friends and you will get a taste (not bitter, just smooth with a hint of grass or fresh mowed hay) of Eliot, his heart, his soul and his accomplishments.
