Depending on the color scheme of your wedding and the style of the dresses of the bridesmaids can be difficult to find a dress for the flower girl that works well with all other elements. One way to have the exact dress you want and add a personal touch is to make the dress flower girl yourself. However, if you are not an experienced seamstress, the tense moment before your wedding is not a good time to take on a challenging sewing project. It may be better to delegate the job to a friend with sewing experience. Go to your local fabric store and choose a pattern and fabric for your flower girl dress. Look at the back of the pattern envelope for a list of items needed to complete the project. This will include the amount of fabric needed, and any notion such as zippers, buttons, etc. Place the material according to the pattern. Cut the pattern pieces apart and pin the material. Carefully remove each piece of material to match the pattern pieces. Follow the pattern to sew the main pieces of the dress together. When the main pieces are sewn together, have the flower girl dress to try on. If clothing is too large, carefully pin the seams to mark the amount to be taken. If the dress is too small, estimate how much needs to be released. Make adjustments and finish the seams. Putting in the zipper, sew buttons and add embellishments. Have the flower girl to try on the dress again. Use the bolts to secure the skirt length. Sew the hem by hand.
