Photography is an art of playing with light. According to Elliott Erwitt, an advertising and documentary photographer known for his black and white candid shots of ironic and absurd situations says that photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. For film making an important factor is that your footage should be accurate with brevity in it and with full clarity. Any ambiguity can make it boring and can ruin its aesthetics.Kenneth Lonergan an American playwright, screenwriter, and director defines filmmaking beautifully. He says Filmmaking, like any other art, is a very profound means of human communication; beyond the professional pleasure of succeeding or the pain of failing, you do want your film to be seen, to communicate itself to other people. So, like any other communication, you need to be clear about what you are showing. In filmmaking, it is very important to know the details of your character and you should know the art of presenting your work. There are certain techniques one should follow to make their work more suitable and one such technique is called follow focus. With time there are several techniques that are used in follow focus. Initially, it was a manual task. There used to be several assistant cameramen's who were precisely for this technique only. But with time many new things were introduced. One such invention was wireless follow focus. Wireless follow focus is an automatic technique for follow focus. The mechanism that is essentially a hybridization of a motion capture system and a remote focus pulling system. As a filmmaker using full frame cameras like DSLR’s such as the Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 7D or Nikon D90, then you are determined to purchase a follow focus. It is because DSLR cameras do not have auto focus capabilities. For documentary making, your target audience is little patient and often ignores your mistakes but when it comes to other genres of filmmaking like short films, music videos, commercials and feature length films you need to measure out each scene and use a focus puller to ensure each shot is as crisp and in focus as possible. There are several focus pullers available in the market and some of them are Redrock, Zacuto, Indiefocus, D focus, and Cinevate.
