Matthew Davies Discusses Ways to Make Your Marriage Work |
Posted: May 25, 2016 |
Introduction Matthew Davies knows that 50% of marriages end in divorce. That is a staggering number. If you think of all the things that are more socially acceptable today than they were 50 years ago, this should be less of a thing. The truth is, there was less divorce in the past than there is now. There must be some reason for this. In this article, we are going to explore the reasons that we think marriage ends so poorly by looking at the ways that you can make it work. We know that sounds a little weird but trust us. Communication There are two main things when it comes to making a marriage work – trust and communication. We are going to discuss trust in a minute. For now, we are going to focus on the communication portion. It is very important to communicate with your partner about everything. There should be nothing that you hold back from them. If you stay in constant communication with your spouse on all things, then you can work through them together. You are a team. If you watch any major sporting event, the team with the best communication is usually the team that will win it all at the end of the day. So, make sure that you tell your spouse how you are feeling. If you have a question about what is going on, don’t hesitate to ask. We think that the lack of communication is a major factor in the deterioration of marriages today. Trust As we promised, we are going to discuss trust. In order for you to communicate, you are going to have to trust the other person. How often do you tell things to a complete stranger? The answer is probably never. Well, that is what you have a spouse for. If you cannot trust your spouse, the marriage is never going to work. The number one cause of trust issues right now is technology. There are so many ways that you can keep communication with another person secret that it is not funny. The number one source of technology ruining marriages is applications. They have a number of applications that are basically people looking for people to have romantic relationships with. If you stay away from these, your odds of being untrustworthy will drastically drop. Alone Time The last thing we are going to discuss is time alone. We all need to have that time in our day that the other person is not there. As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. It is absolutely true. You need to have things that you do without your spouse and they need to have things they do without you. Spending too much time with someone will make it so you always dread that they are there. Conclusion Matthew Davies hopes that he has provided you with some solid ways to make your marriage work. Did you notice the word “work?” There is a reason for that. Marriages are work. You have to make them work every day, or you will find that you are no longer in a marriage.
