HR personnel across varied industries are creating a profile on different social networks with an aim to build a database of potential candidates. They are also connecting with potential candidates via articles, employee experiences, and special initiatives.
An example of the rise of social media recruiting is the fact that ‘Change the Game’ campaign launched by PepsiCo India had more than 1,700 registrations done via social media. In this unique challenge, participants did everything from being creative with selfies to designing a service or product around nutrition and health. A few winners got a chance to work at PepsiCo while some got the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality.
According to Randstad Employer Brand Research, there has been a major shift in how some people search for jobs. Social and professional networks are among top channels for job seekers. This survey has also discovered that half of the job seekers across the world make use of social networks to hunt a job. About 56 percent prefer Facebook, 38 percent pick Google Plus and 34 percent use LinkedIn.
The talent leader at EY, Sandeep Kohli has also mentioned that about 7 percent of recruitment at EY is done through social media. He considers social media platforms like Facebook are vital to engaging with Millennials while stressing that LinkedIn helps in reaching out to more and more candidates.
