Choosing the Best Fire Detection System |

What will happen if a beginning fire is not revealed in time? There will be a big and irreparable misfortune. Therefore, today we will talk about modern means of automatic fire detection at the earliest stage of its occurrence - fire detection systems as well as smoke detectors maintenance. In order to fix the fire at the earliest stage, when it is called ignition, now modern detection systems and fire alarm systems (FAS) are used. They are designed for round-the-clock monitoring of the protected facility and alerting the owner of the first signs of a fire or smoke. To create such systems, the following devices are used: detection devices - fire detectors, signal processing devices (control panels) and executive equipment (warning devices). They are produced by such companies as ESSER (Austria), Texecom and PYRONIX (Great Britain), System Sensor (Italy), Securiton (Switzerland), ESMI (Finland), Napco (USA). Fire detectors are the main elements of fire detection systems. First of all, the effectiveness of the system depends on their sensitivity and noise immunity. Smoke, heat and open flame detectors are usually used in houses. As a rule, they are all "threshold", that is, they are triggered when the controlled value exceeds the set value. Smoke detectors. Smoke is the most characteristic sign of the fire at its earliest stage. Measuring the concentration of smoke in the air, the sensor "makes a conclusion" about the presence of fire. Smoke detectors are divided into pointed and linear. The pointed ones produce a measure in the place in which they are installed. In private housing, only photoelectric detectors are used. Inside such a device, a measuring chamber with a light source and a photodetector is hidden. Particles of smoke, trapped in the chamber, change the light transmission of air and scatter the light flux. The photodetector captures these changes. Linear smoke detectors consist of two elements, outwardly reminiscent of video surveillance cameras - a transmitter and receiver-converter. They are set against each other on the opposite walls of the room. The models in which both elements are combined have appeared recently. In this case, a reflector is opposite the radiator. The emitter can be either infrared or laser, operating in the visible range of red light. The appearance of smoke in the space between the transmitter and receiver (or between the transceiver and the reflector) causes attenuation of the received light flux. The magnitude of this attenuation is fixed by the receiver-transducer. And if the threshold is exceeded, it generates a "Fire" signal for fire suppression to begin. Thermal fire detectors. Sensitive elements of thermal detectors can be bimetallic plates, semiconductor thermistors, etc. According to the principle of operation, thermal detectors are divided into passive (contact) and active (electronic) ones. The passive ones do not consume electricity and function as follows: when the room temperature reaches a critical temperature (of the order of 70 ° C), the sensing element either generates a certain signal (due to the thermoelectric effect) or breaks / closes the contact of the electrical circuit, thus giving an alarm signal. Active devices consume electricity, but they give out information not only about reaching the critical temperature in the protected area, but, most importantly, about changing the rate of temperature rise.
