Polycystic Kidney Disease is an inherited disease that causes fluid-filled cysts to form in individual nephrons, the subunits of the kidney. Eventually, all of the nephrons of bilateral kidneys either become cystic or are compressed, distorted and rendered increasingly ineffective by the pressure of adjacent cysts.
