Over weight and obesity has led to numerous health related problems like diabetes, heart related ailments, orthopedic related issues. The concern is really not these problems occurring from weight issues but the ignorance of them has lead to more serious conditions among these obese populations. The first step towards treating obesity is regular exercise and a balanced diet which is normally not adopted by majority of people; they in fact go for easy options to reduce weight. Gastric surgery is one of the most common and easy option available for these men and women. Though it is recommended that surgery should be the last option for weight loss but people prefer this because they see this as an easy option and they get it done just for lifestyle purposes. Obesity is known to be a cause of impotence in men. Obesity can also give men a poorer self-image, which indirectly puts a dent in their self-esteem, and make them less likely to have strong sexual desires and respond to sexual urges.
But now if you are thinking to go under the knife for weight loss then you should think twice because as per the latest study from Australia confirms that weight loss surgery can increase the risk and condition of impotence and making it worse for them. Researchers from Melbourne examined around 176 patients including 142 women and 32 men undergoing gastric band surgery. Gastric band surgery involves a band being fitted around the stomach area which can restrict the amount of food a person can eat. These people undergoing this surgery already had a existing medical issues as many of the men already had erectile dysfunction(ED) and half of the women having urinary incontinence. After the surgery it was seen that these women experience greater level of urinary function while the men experiencing more severe condition of Erectile Dysfunction.
Lead study author Dr. Weranja Ranasinghe who was involved in this study said: "The anticipated improvement in the men’s sexual function, which has been observed in studies on non-surgical weight loss, did not materialize. In fact, the men in our study reported that their erection and orgasm problems worsened after surgery." Gastric band surgery became quite popular among the obese population because of no immediate side effects but they never realized the long term side effects which the surgery can lead to. Though it is very much not clear as to why this surgery causes impotence to worsen. Doctors are of the opinion that men’s impotence could have resulted from psychological issues resulting from surgery or probably from hormonal changes that occur post surgery.
Obesity and Diabetes can certainly trigger the occurrence of Erectile Dysfunction even without gastric surgery so treating obesity should start from simple steps like adopting good food habits and regular exercise. Even a half an hour walk can make a lot of difference if done consistently for longer duration of time. Nowadays treating erectile dysfunction has become much easier due to the easy availability of oral medications like Generic Viagra and Kamagra Oral Jelly. These oral medication can restore erection effectively in men suffering from ED related issues. Generic Viagra has become more popular because of its ability to restore erection in minutes and the safety of this drug. Moreover the online availability of Generic Viagra has made it very easy for the patients suffering from ED or Impotence.
