Type 1 diabetes is a chronic kidney disease, occurring when the body produces a little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone which carries the glucose into the cells where they are stored for energy. If insulin is insufficient, too much sugar builds up in the bloodstream, causing a lot of symptoms and diabetic complications. Uncontrolled blood sugar happens to some people sometimes.
